The International Collegiate is a unique golf tournament bringing Colleges, Universities and National teams together in St Andrews the Home of Golf.
First played in 2002 over the St Andrews Fairmont Resort’s Torrance Course atop the cliffs that overlook St Andrews. The International Collegaite was won by the University of North Carolina in 2006 after narrowly loosing to ACC rivals Wake Forest in 2002.
The International Collegiate can boast an impressive resume of tournament alumni including 2004 Amateur Champion Stewart Wilson (R&A), PGA Tour players Bill Haas (Wake), Aron Price (GA Southern) and Dustin Johnston (Coastal) and Nationwide Tour member and 2002 Champion Dustin Bray (UNC).
Not just for the stars of tomorrow, the Alumni / Booster Cup is run concurrently for all competing teams to submit teams of 4 Alumni / Boosters. A fun but competitive tournament for those that support college golf. The revenue generated by the Alumni / Booster teams allows the college teams to travel to Scotland.
In 2002 Wake Forest won the first Booster Cup and thus managed a clean sweep of Alumni Cup and International Collegiate trophies. After winning the party in 2002 a rejuvenated and very strong Georgia Southern won the 2006 event. 'Southern Boosters' lead by the team of John Mulherin, Mike Cummings, Barry Deal and Robert Baker look to defend both titles in 2010!
